Employee Engagement Survey That Turns Insight into Action for the Workplace

engagementflow® helps leaders understand what is shaping engagement at work, how connected employees feel to the organisation and whether they intend to stay.

It measures Work Engagement, Organisational Connection and Future Intent, then explores the workplace conditions influencing the employee experience through five domains and ten organisational drivers.

Measure the experience. Understand the conditions. Focus the action.

3 areas measured

5 domains and 10 drivers

What the engagementflow® Employee Engagement Survey Measure?

engagementflow® gives leaders a structured view of three important areas of employee experience: Work Engagement, Organisational Connection and Future Intent.

It then examines ten workplace and organisational drivers, organised into five accessible domains, to help leaders understand the conditions that may be supporting or inhibiting that experience.

This separation matters. Rather than collapsing everything into one engagement score, engagementflow® helps leaders distinguish what employees are experiencing from the workplace conditions that may require attention

helps leders distinguish what employees are experiencing from the workplace conditions that may require attention.

Work Engagement

Work Engagement

The energy, focused attention and personal investment employees bring to performing their work.

Organisational Connection

Organisational Connection

The pride, sense of connection and personal importance employees attach to being part of the organisation.

Future Intent

Future Intent

Whether employees currently intend to remain with the organisation during the next twelve months.

These three areas are reported separately. The five domains and ten drivers then provide the detail
needed to identify what should be protected, explored or acted on.

Measure the Conditions That Shape Engagement

engagementflow® organises ten workplace and organisational drivers into five practical domains:
Direction, Ownership, Leadership, Connection and Sustainable Performance.

The domains make the results easier to understand and communicate. The ten drivers provide the diagnostic detail needed to guide action.

From Employee Feedback to Practical Action
engagementflow® is designed to make employee listening useful, not simply produce another set of survey results.

The standard annual survey contains 37 scored statements and one optional action focused comment.

The target median completion time is approximately six minutes, with most employees completing within eight minutes.

Results are reported using percentage favourable and organised around Work Engagement, Organisational Connection, Future Intent and the ten drivers.

Review patterns across the organisation and eligible teams, locations and organisational levels to identify strengths, concerns and areas that warrant further investigation.

Use results, employee comments, organisational context and operational evidence to select a small number of meaningful actions and define what employees should notice changing.

The purpose of measurement is not the survey. It is better action.

Annual Insight. Purposeful Pulse Listening.

The annual engagementflow® survey provides the broad organisational baseline. The engagementflow® Pulse suite provides shorter follow-up measurement using a common core, with additional items selected according to what leaders need to understand or monitor.

Standard Engagement Pulse

Track Work Engagement and Organisational Connection together with two selected drivers.

Action Progress Pulse

Monitor a priority driver and assess whether an agreed action is visible, useful and making a difference.

Targeted Driver Pulse

Explore one or two priority drivers in greater depth when further diagnosis is needed.

Change Pulse

Track clarity, involvement, communication and support during material organisational change.

Pulse Facts

Each pulse contains 12 scored statements and one optional comment.

The target median completion time is approximately two minutes, with most respondents completing within three minutes.

Used together, annual and pulse listening create a practical cycle:

Measure → Act → Listen Again → Adjust

Reporting Designed to Show What Matters

Survey data becomes useful when leaders can understand what it means, where the pattern is occurring and what deserves attention.

Percentage Favourable

Work Engagement, Organisational Connection and each driver are reported using percentage favourable. Neutral and unfavourable responses remain visible so uncertainty can be distinguished from more direct negative experience.

No Overall engagementflow® Score

engagementflow® does not collapse Work Engagement, Organisational Connection, Future Intent and the ten drivers into one headline score. Each is interpreted separately.

Organisation and Group Insight

Results can be explored across eligible teams, locations and organisational levels where confidentiality thresholds are met.

Internal Trend and Priority Analysis

Interpretation focuses on the organisation’s own baseline, movement over time and meaningful differences across eligible groups rather than relying on universal external benchmarks.

Not Every Low Score Is Automatically a Priority

Priority analysis should consider the current employee experience, the relationship between a driver and the areas being measured, whether the result is improving or declining and whether the pattern is widespread or concentrated in particular groups.

Understand the pattern before prescribing the solution.

The engagementflow® Action Framework

Once priorities are clear, use a simple four-step framework to move from survey insight to visible change.

1 — Understand

Clarify employees’ experience and its practical consequences.

Question: What is happening and where is it occurring?

2 — Locate

Identify the likely organisational source.

Question: Is the issue primarily work design, leadership behaviour, systems, resources, communication, team practice or policy?

3 — Act

Choose a proportionate and observable intervention.

Question: What will leaders or the organisation do differently, and what should employees notice?

4 — Review

Assess implementation and movement.

Question: Is the action visible, useful and associated with improved employee experience?

Employees should hear what the organisation learned, what it intends to protect, what will change and when progress will be reviewed.

The wider flowprofiler® portfolio can help leaders understand how people are motivated, how leadership behaviour is experienced and what capabilities may support change.

Evidence Led, Confidential and Designed for Responsible Use

engagementflow® is interpreted at organisation and group level. It does not produce individual employee profiles.

Results for teams, locations or organisational levels are reported only where at least seven valid responses are available and where the reporting structure does not create an identification risk.

The model is research informed and draws on established work in engagement, job demands and resources, work design, autonomy, organisational support, psychological safety, inclusion, organisational justice and sustainable work.

Survey results identify patterns that warrant attention. They do not prove that one organisational condition caused another result. Findings should be interpreted alongside employee comments, organisational context, operational evidence and informed discussion.

❝While I have never been an ardent fan of any assessment, I have unconsciously become one as I have watched the awareness and growth I have experienced as well with every individual , leader and team who I have had the privilege to work with.  A straight forward tool that gives depth and meaning for anyone who wants to live an optimal life❞
Malar Villi, Managing Director, Hearts and Minds, Malaysia
❝Having participated in a number of similar programs, I found flowprofiler® to be one of the best, if not the best, I have done thus far. The questions posed to create your profile are not dissimilar to other programs but responding from the perspective of two different mindsets is what differentiates flowprofiler®. This allows for interesting and insightful discussions when reviewing the results and your profile. Personally, I found my own results very close to how I perceive myself and to how others perceive me, which makes the suggestions on how to ‘bend and flex’ to interact with others that much more useful. A great system, highly recommended!❞
Shane Jolly, General Manager, Langham Hotel, Sydney
❝We increased our retention of candidates in the first 6 weeks from 50% to 80% using this system.❞
Brendt Evenden, Operations Manager, Gistlens

Eric Lo, Food & Beverage Manager, Langham Hotel, Sydney
❝The team session for resilienceflow® was very useful because the whole company was able to discuss change. The Zoom breakout rooms really allowed for in-depth dialogue and opened discussions that would not have normally been broached.❞
Shona Wilson, Communications and Marketing
❝I took the flowprofiler® assessment back in 2019. It really helped me to understand some aspects of myself that I had always suspected, but hadn’t been able to come to terms with,  or know how to do better. It gave me the language to understand, become more aware of my behaviour and regulate my responses to my triggers. It’s helped me to ask myself, ‘is this proportionate & appropriate’? I like to think that I’ve always had a decent level of emotional intelligence, but now I feel that because I understand it better, I’m able to use it more effectively. Both for my benefit and for everyone around me.❞
Catherine Hordern, Marketing & Communications, Holst
❝Personally, I thought flowprofiler® was great. It was me; I was reading about me on a page!❞
Yannick Besnard, Food and Beverage Manager, Langham Hotel, Sydney
❝Taking the flowprofiler® assessments, I had the opportunity to become more aware of my strengths and was able to give myself the chance to work on elements of myself that I want to improve through the awareness created through the assessments. I find myself using skills that I have gained through flowprofiler® in my work and personal life.❞
Heidi Bell, Client Support, flowprofiler® Australia
❝The training was informative, well paced and covered the critical points succinctly. There was a lot of information that needed to be covered and the individual reports are also very lengthy, however it was pleasing to be able to review assessments (at a high level) and be able to properly interpret the results. Beck’s delivery of the material was engaging, the language appropriate for the audience and the general flow of the training and timing for breaks and testing was well judged. Iain’s contributions supported the training very well and again, language was well chosen for the audience.❞
Shane Jolly, General Manager, Langham Hotel, Sydney
❝flowprofiler® provides me deep insight, and it surely helps develop myself as a business person. Based on the results, I know my strengths and weaknesses so that I am able to think about myself from different perspectives during the project. I would say this assessment has full of opportunities and chances to enhance your work environment.❞
Takeru Matsumura, Student, Chuo University, Tokyo, Japan
❝A very insightful tool. The results helped me understand how I react to certain work situations both day to day and under pressure. I found the development report particularly useful to build an action plan for activating certain behaviours of underuse and being mindful of spikes in other behaviours.❞
Vanessa Lovegrove, Senior Consultant, Holst
❝We are excited and thrilled to share this new tool to support people grow, learn and give their best in their lives, personally and professionally. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to evolve and be the best version of themselves. Better people will make this a better world.❞
